Friendship Monument's demolition on April 24 was message to Aliyev - sculptor

Ankara’s move to start the demolition of the Monument to Peace and Humanity on April 24 was a message to the Azerbaijani leader, the author of the monument has said.

“Starting the monument demolition on April 24 was like sending a message to Azerbaijan,” sculptor Mehmet Aksoy has said.
Aksoy earlier sent a letter to Turkish President Andullah Gul asking him to suspend the demolition.

“If they want to tear it down, let them do so. I can model a new one. I will not give in so easily,” he said.  Read more... (147 words)
