Armenian-Turkish friendship statue to be moved to trash dump

The Monument to Peace and Humanity symbolizing the friendship between Armenian-Turkish nations has been completely torn down, the Turkish newspaper Haberturk reported.

“We’ll break the statue to pieces within a couple of days and move the debris to a trash dump,” said a representative of a company dealing with the demolition of the monument.

Around 200 Turkish artists are organizing a protest in Kars on Saturday. The event will be attended the former Mayor of Kars, Naif Abieoglu (who initiated the construction of the monument) and the author of the statue, Mehmet Aksoy.
