April 24: Church says no confusion as Genocide commemoration comes on Easter Day

This year the Armenian Genocide commemoration day has coincided with the Feast of the Glorious Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ or the Easter Feast, which led to divergence in views among many people. Eventually what will April 24 be this year – a feast or a day of mourning?

Ter Shahe Ananyan from the Mother See of Holy Echmiadzin says that on April 24 morning the Genocide victims' day will be commemorated, and at 10:30 a.m. a solemn patriarchal liturgy will be held.

"On April 24 morning with the blessing of His Holiness a group [of clergymen] will leave for Tsitsernakaberd [the Armenian Genocide Victims Memorial], and later the patriarchal liturgy will start at the Holy See of Echmiadzin, and the requiem mass will be held on Monday [April 25]," Ter Shahe Ananyan says.  Read more...
