Fifty people were detained and some were 234 injured in clashes between Kurdish civilians and the Turkish police in several Turkish towns on Monday.
It came after the Turkish Supreme Electoral Council placed veto on Kurdish candidates’ right to run for the upcoming elections, the Kurdish news agency Firat reported.
Following the council’s decision, the Kurdish population in the towns of Van, Diyarbekir, Hakkari and Istanbul held anti-government demonstrations that resulted in clashes with security forces.
