People down with flu undergoing treatment at a number of medical centers in Yerevan claim the hospitals in the capital are full because of the raging influenza. The Ministry of Health, however, says there is no epidemic, but a "typical seasonal increase of respiratory infections".
The ministry late last week, on Friday, released a statement on their monitoring results, according to which there has been a seasonal increase of cases of flu and respiratory infections over the past week.
In the period between February 24 and March 1 the ministry registered 1.4 times increase of acute respiratory infections, as compared to the week before (5,033 registered cases during February 18-24). There have also been a higher number of emergency calls for medical assistance related to respiratory infections and pneumonia.
