Nominations in the May 5 municipal elections in Yerevan will start next Monday, according to a Central Election Commission (CEC) secretary.
Political parties seeking representation in the 65-member Council of Elders of the Armenian capital are due to submit their lists of candidates between March 11 and 21, which will be followed by a period of registrations until March 31.
The election campaign leading to the municipal election will kick off on April 7 to end two days before the vote, on May 3.
Yerevan's Council of Elders, which is a body electing the city mayor, is currently controlled by the ruling Republican Party.
Many analysts in Armenia think the upcoming local elections in Yerevan may be instrumental in defusing the current post-election tensions in Armenia.
