Some eighty-eight candidates have submitted their documents for participation in the local self-governmental elections slated in a number of Armenian provinces for September 9.
Self-nominated candidates, followed by candidates nominated by the ruling Republican party, Prosperous Armenia party prevail in the election race.
Tens of candidates are the acting heads of communities or deputy heads of villages, there are also individual entrepreneurs. In the rural areas of Armenia's Lori province all candidates are self-nominated with only one RPA candidate.
The same situation is in Shirak province, with only one difference – the PAP has nominated a candidate for mayoral elections in Gyumri town.
As of the moment no other parties – neither from opposition nor pro-government parties – have nominated candidates.
