Turkey's political and public figures assessing the country's achievements of the past few years in terms of democracy say that Turkey is far from being called a democratic country.
Within the framework of Support to Armenian-Turkish Rapprochement project a number of meetings and discussions were held in Turkey and Armenia during which politicians, public figures and reporters shared their opinions on a number of issues the two countries are challenged with.
Hasip Kaplan, vice-president of the Kurdish Peace and Democracy party faction (35 mandates) in the Turkish parliament says, referring to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan led Justice and Development Party (JDP), that it is based on Islamic ideology.
