The cabinet of Northern Cyprus has made a decision to rename the country the Turkish Republic of Cyprus.
The state was earlier known as Northern Republic of Turkish Cyprus.
The move has reportedly brought about other changes. From now on, the country's citizens will be identified as “the Cypriot Turk” in their identity documents.
According to the Turkish Millyet, the reform was launched after it became known that the Greek Cyprus will take of the EU chairmanship on July 1.
