le=”text-align: justify;”>Coincidences hardly happen in big politics, said Karen Bekaryan, Chairman of the European Integration NGO, told Tert.am.
“It can hardly be mere coincidence,” he said as he answered a question as to whether it was a coincidence that the Commission of the Laws of the French National Assembly approved a bill penalizing Armenian Genocide denial while a reception in Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s honor was being held at the Marseilles city hall.
“We should remember that, while on a visit to Armenia, French President Nicolas Sarkozy stated the Upper Chamber of the French Parliament would address the problem if Turkey failed to take relevant steps. So it may be viewed as France’s move in this context. Interestingly, however, is that it coincided with the Armenian president’s visit to France,” Bekaryan said.
