Armenia's State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition (SCPEC) today singled out Grand Tobacco and International Masis Tobacco for unfair business practices aimed at getting retailers to only carry their product lines.
The SCPEC has charged the two companies with bribing retailers with expensive gifts and other perks on condition that they do not carry the products of their competitors.
Such practices, according to the SCPEC, put other producers and importers at a disadvantage when marketing their goods and can also prevent new players from entering the market.
The SCPEC has launched administrative proceedings against the two companies.
