Gagik Tsarukyan, the leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), has slammed Justice Minister Hrair Tovmasyan over the latter's controversial comment regarding prisoners sewing their mouths and eyes shut in detention facilities.
At a meeting with young activists of the party on Saturday the political heavyweight, who is named by some pollsters as the most popular politician in Armenia and tipped by many as a plausible presidential candidate in next year's election, expressed his anger with the government official representing the ruling Republican Party who said earlier last week that such actions taken by prisoners in protest against unfair treatment or poor prison condition was the same as young women having their ears pierced for earrings.
