Go South!: Syunik invites tourists to their part of “Armenia=?UTF-8?B?4oCZ?=s open air museum=?UTF-8?B?4oCd?=

Gegham Ghazaryan's house in Shikahogh village (350 kilometers south of Yerevan) is among the unique bed-and-breakfast places where tourists stay and enjoy home-made food.

As part of a special visit by tour operators from Yerevan, Gegham's wife Tatev Ghazaryan lays a table full of traditional village food and national dishes.

During the meal she introduces rural tourism opportunities, advantages and specifics: "We treat our guests to this kind of food: boiled free-range chicken, moldy cheese, zhingyal bread [bread pie stuffed with a roasted herbal mix], beans and walnut soup, wheat dolma [grape leaf rolls stuffed with wheat], harisa with special herbs and chicken [chicken and wheat porridge]. Also we serve home-made juices, wines and vodka made of blackberry, cornelian cherries, pears and mulberries."
