Earthquake Scare: Tabriz shock felt in Syunik province

A 4.4 magnitude earthquake this morning in Iran was felt in southern Armenian province Syunik, where it was sensed particularly in Kapan and Goris.

The epicenter of the earthquake was 44 kilometers (about 26 miles) from Tabriz, where there are reported causalities and damage.

News.am reports that residents in Kapan (about 225 kilometers – 140 miles – from Tabriz) left their buildings and children were evacuated from schools. The tremors in Kapan and Goris measured 3-4 magnitude.
