Oppositional Heritage party leader Raffi Hovannisian who has announced his participation in the forthcoming presidential elections claims he is a "collective candidate", but does not specify which forces will be supporting him.
"I am not soliciting anybody's support of my candidacy, I do not accept that approach, I say that this is a collective candidacy, and in case of victory I'll serve one term and at the end of the fifth year people of Armenia will inherit a country of completely different quality. I can't do that alone, and when I say collective candidacy, it's not some kind of encryption meant to collect people around me. Collective candidacy is civil society, caring citizens and intellectuals, and other political parties, which can see this chance to change the country," he told the press on Monday, adding that recently he has met almost a hundred citizens, politicians, civil activists and young people "to ask for their opinions and their willingness to have me stand by their side as a candidate".
