Armrusgasrom denies reports on mixing gas with air

The caloricity of the natural gas imported to Armenia varies between 8,000kcal-8,600kcal per cubic meter, Hrant Tadevosyan, a deputy director and chief engineer at Armrusgasprom, told Tert.am.
According to him, the consumers who pay for 7,900 kilocalories of natural gas receive 8,600 kilocalories of the fuel.
His comments came amid the population's complaints that they burn air with natural gas. Tadevosyan says the company has conducted numerous tests which have revealed that the concerns voiced are unjustified.
"If there are people who can professionally justify the complaint, we will try to address the problem. We will be ready to conduct any kind of test in any place with any expert group. Moreover, we have conducted such tests every day with the Hrazdan and Yerevan thermal power plants for whom calorie is an important element as they generate power, and no malfunctions have been revealed," he said.
The company's chief engineer said that any attempt to mix natural gas with air would cause a highly explosive situation.
"A mix of certain quantity of air with natural gas would cause the pipeline to catch fire and blow up. And thank God, we haven't had any explosions so far," he added.
