The national soccer team of the internationally unrecognized republic of Karabakh played a soccer game in capital Stepanakert Sunday beating visitors from Georgia's breakaway republic of Abkhazia 3-0, reports Armsport.am.
Karabakh President Bako Sahakyan attended the match played at the city's stadium in the presence of numerous fans.
A similar friendly played between the two teams in the Abkhazian capital of Sukhumi last month ended 1-1.
Neither Karabakh nor Abkhazia are associated with international soccer's governing body, FIFA. In accordance with the FIFA statutes, only "an independent state recognized by the international community" may become a member of the association. No government in the world has recognized Karabakh as an independent state yet, while only five countries, including Russia, have recognized Abkhazia's independent status so far.
