Syrian-Armenian children visit Yerevan

The Syrian-Armenian children, who have been invited by the Government to spend a fortnight in the resort town of Tsaghkadzor, visited Yerevan on Saturday.
As they were expected to return to their camp later in the day, the singing fountains of the Republican Square were switched on in the afternoon to entertain them.
Speaking to Tert.am, a deputy director of the camp, Vachagan Avetisyan, said the 150 children, who arrived in the camp four days ago, had visited Lake Sevan and the Goshavank monastery (Tavush region) before coming to Yerevan.
"The children's day is quite busy with different field trips, games and cognitive visits," he said.
Hovik Banbalyan, who escorts the children, said a change of climate is very useful to them in this period.
"The agenda is very good, and we have a good time, visiting the sights and conducting field trips to forests. We'll still have time to go to a few more places," he said.
Banbalyan said that despite the instabilities in Aleppo, the Armenians are doing everything possible to avoid the clashes.
"Nonetheless, the Armenians cannot feel completely safe. We would very much wish to return to a safer environment. Hopefully, it will be better; Syria is our second homeland, so we want everything to finish soon so that we could come here in better circumstances," he said, adding that the group is returning to Aleppo on September 4.
