Opposition rep wants Armenian National Congress participate in local elections

The Gyumri chapter of the opposition bloc Armenian National Congress (ANC) decided against nominating an ANC candidate for Gyumri mayor, Nikol Pashinyan, an MP of the ANC, told Tert.am."The ANC did not make any imperative decisions. Local structures were mostly decision-makers. It is desirable that the ANC should have its candidates in local government elections, including mayoral elections. However, a number of facts should be taken into account," he said. With respect to political scientist Hmayak Hovhannisyan's statement that the ANC nominating just a few candidates in local elections shows its weakness, while the ANC member Lyudmila Sargsyan pleaded financial problems, Pashinyan said: "Any opinion has the right to existence. We must analyze any fact and draw conclusions."
