The murder of Vahe Avetyan, the military doctor beaten severely on the premises of the Harsnaqar restaurant, was not just an ordinary crime, according to an opposition activist.
Addressing the deadly incident in Harsnaqar, Aram Manukyan, the chief of the Armenian pan-National Movement's board (a central political force in opposition Armenian National Congress), told a reporters on Monday that the brutal killing of the military doctor is not a unique case. He characterized the incident a challenge to the society.
"This atmosphere of permissiveness and outrage create a quality, with each incident being repeated by another. The response, which similar cases have to entail, is not adequate," he said.
Major Vahe Avetyan, the chief of the ENT Depaertment at the Yerevan Garrison hospital, was beaten to death in Harsnaqar restaurant on June 17. He was hospitalized in a critical condition and was operated on three times, but the damages to his brain created conditions incompatible with life. Avetyan died on Friday evening, without coming to consciousness.
