Soccer: Shirak closing in on Mika after weekend win

Gyumri's Shirak scored a victory in a Saturday match against current Premier League leaders Mika Yerevan.

The 2-0 win helped the provincial team reduce the difference between the two sides to just three points.

After Round 15 Mika are still on top of the league standings with 35 points.

The championship takes a four-week break and will resume on July 28-29 when Shirak play currently third-placed Impuls Dilijan and Mika face the bottom-of-the-barrel side Ararat.

The 42-round championship will go on until next spring to decide the winner. The extension of the season is due to switching to an autumn-spring schedule of championship play.
