The uproar following the death of a military doctor, who was brutally beaten in Harsnakar restaurant a few weeks ago, continues; and on the 40th day after the officer's death the initiative group of 'Vahe Avetyan' public movement will stage a candlelight vigil.
On June 17, Avetyan along with three colleagues was brutally beaten by security guards in Harsnakar restaurant complex which belongs to the family of Ruben Hayrapetyan, chairman of Armenia's Football Federation. Avetyan never regained consciousness following the beating, and died 12 days later.
Avetyan's death caused public indignation. Numerous protests were organized, and Hayrapetyan resigned his mandate as a member of the National Assembly.
