Iraqi authorities say bombs have killed four people in two cities as violence continues to surge six months after the last American troops withdrew, The AP reports.
A provincial official says three coordinated bombs exploded within minutes Sunday morning in the central city of Tikrit, 130 kilometers (80 miles) north of Baghdad. One civilian walking by died and two others were wounded.
The official says the bombs went off near a middle school where students were taking exams but none of the students were hurt.
Further south, police said a suicide car bomb and three roadside bombs exploded at a security checkpoint, killing three policemen in Samarra, 95 kilometers (60 miles) north of Baghdad, on Saturday night. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to release the information.
