Armenia=?UTF-8?B?4oCZ?=s vice-premier visits Tavoush

Armenia's Vice-Premier, Minister of Territorial Administration Armen Gevorgyan paid a working visit on Monday to the Tavoush region of Armenia to inspect the implementation of programs.A number of programs implemented in the region are supposed to resolve priority problems. Also, the Agricultural Project Implementation Unit state agency, Armenian Social Investment Fund (ASIF), World Bank (WB) and International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) are implementing socio-economic infrastructure development projects.Vice-Premier Gevorgyan began his visit with inspecting the renovation work at the road section connecting the northern mouth of the Sevan-Dilijan tunnel and the Dilijan ring crossroads. Armenia's government allocated a total of AMD 1.177bn for the renovation. The work is in progress and is to be completed within two months. The vice-premier stressed the importance of high-quality work.Accompanied by Tavoush Governor A. Ghularyan and ASIF Director A. Kirako syan, Vice-Premier Gevorgyan inspected the renovation work at the Ijevan city library. A total of AMD 53m was allocated from Armenia's state budget for the renovation work. However, an additional AMD 30m is required for the work to be completed. The vice-premier discussed the problem with ASIF.Vice-Premier Armen Gevorgyan also visited the borderline village of Barekamavan, where a drinking water pipeline was put into operation under a 2nd special program worth AMD 20m. A third, AMD 6.2m worth, program envisages the construction of a gas-supply network. The officials discussed the issue of re-enforcing the local school building.In the Berkaber community, Minister Gevorgyan visited the local school, which is expected to be renovated on ASIF-allocated funds. Under the first program, AMD 12m were spent on the roofing. However, the building has not been renovated for 30 years.In the Sarigyugh community the officials discussed the renovation of the local water-supply system. The problem was also raised at a meeting with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan during the parliamentary election campaign. Vice-Premier Gevorgyan instructed the ASIF director to conduct surveys and submit relevant proposals.Toward the end of his visit, the Armenian vice-premier was informed of the IFAD gas-supply project for the Koti region. The AMD 2.5m project envisages gas-supply for a number of communities and is to be launched soon. Vice-Premier Armen Gevorgyan stressed the importance of gas-supply for Armenia's borderline regions.
