Armenia has this year sent 25 participants to the 2012 London Olympic Games.
Since gaining independence, only one sportsman, Armen Nazaryan, has managed to bring a gold medal to the country (Atlanta, 1996). Hopefully, Armenia will this time finally manage to have a new Olympic champion,
Three Greco-Roman wrestlers, Arsen Julfakyan (74kg.), Artur Alexanyan (96kg.) and Yuri Patrikev, one weightlifter, Tigran Martirosyan (77kg.), one boxer, Andranik Hakobyan (75kg.) and one shooter, Norayr Bakhtamyan, are real contenders of medals this year.
In the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Armenia won six bronze medals.
