ARF-D to take active part in Armenia=?UTF-8?B?4oCZ?=s local elections

The Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun (ARF-D) will take a most active part in the local elections to be held soon.As regards the 2013 presidential election, the ARF-D Supreme Assembly is inclined to believe that the party should nominate its own candidate, Armen Rustamyan, an ARF-D Supreme Body member, told journalists on Tuesday."Given the present situation, as well as the chances for uniting the opposition, it is the newly elected Supreme Body that is to make a final decision," Rustamyan said. The ARF-D Supreme Assembly will hold a special sitting, with the issue of presidential nominee on the agenda, he added. As to the political forces the ARF-D may unite with – if they are the forces that formed the joint campaign headquarters – Rustamyan said that the headquarters completed its mission, but the electorate remains."It is natural that the present coalition should nominate a joint candidate as a rival to the incumbent president," he said. Al l the votes cast for the incumbent president do not make up 50% of the total number of voters, which means that more than 50% of voters are free, and any political forces must aim at winning their favor," Rustamyan said. The candidate must clearly state his intention to establish a parliamentary system in Armenia and allow the opposition to supervise the government's activities."If forces unite round this idea, a candidate will be found to put it into practice, and we are ready to participate in the presidential election with this program," Rustamyan said. The Armenian authorities' foreign and domestic policy failed, which may prove disastrous for the country. Arustamyan pointed out high migration and poverty levels, as well as monopolies and foreign debt.
