Ceremonial opening of Spyurk (Diaspora) summer school took place today, press release of Diaspora Ministry says.
Minister Hranush Hakobyan welcomed the attendees describing this day as a historical. "It is a historical day, as for the first time, with the assignment of the Armenian president a school called to contribute to the preservation of Armenian identity launches," she said.
Out of five programs of the school, the minister outlined the speeded-up classes of the mother tongue "which will give an opportunity to make the Motherland a center of studies of the native language, and the Armenian young people will have an opportunity to study mother tongue in Armenia both in Western Armenian and Eastern Armenian languages."
The school has been established by the Armenian Diaspora Ministry on the basis of Yerevan State University.
YSU rector Aram Simonyan welcomed the attendees.
