Exams real stress for entrants – Armenian expert

Vachagan Galstyan, Secretary of the Examining Board at Yerevan State University says that this year's entrants are under lower stress."Social problems as a rule cause stress among entrants. Fewer free seats are available now as compared with last year, whereas numerous entrants are competing for free seats," he said. Boys are under acute stress because they have to go to the army if they fail to enter higher schools.Psychologist Mihran Madatyan pointed out general aspiration for higher education in Armenia. Armenia's society seems to be focused on exams, he said.Ashot Kosyan, Head of the Neurology Department, Artmed medical center, believes examination process needs changing."Some countries do not practice entrance examinations at all. All those wishing are admitted and those unable to learn are expelled," he said.Kosyan pointed out the need for a second chance for entrants.
