Karabakh's renovated airport is technically ready for operation, according to a senior aviation official in Stepanakert.
As quoted by the Armenian state-run news agency Armenpress, Dmitry Adbashyan, the head of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic civil aviation department, said that issues relating to the certification of the airport's staff have also been settled.
According to the official, the Head Department of Civil Aviation of Armenia has already completed inspections at the airport to find out its correspondence to the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) standards. Adbashyan said he expected a positive conclusion, but did not indicate the date when the legal procedures would be over or the actual operation of the airport would begin. He only said that they were doing their best for the operation of the facility to start as soon as possible.
