An Armenia+NATO meeting took place at the NATO Headquarters on June 21.The meeting discussed the Armenia-NATO Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP).Armenian Deputy FM Ashot Hovakimyan and First Deputy Minister of Defense David Tonoyan headed the Armenian delegation.James Appathurai, NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia, chaired the meeting.Speaking at the meeting, Ashot Hovakimyan spoke of Armenia's progress in honoring its commitments under the Armenia-NATO Individual Partnership Action Plan and the international community's positive assessments of the reforms in the country, Armenia-EU cooperation, Nagorno-Karabakh peace process and Azerbaijan's provocations on the Line of Contact.Armenia's First Deputy Minister of Defense David Tonoyan presented the defense and security reforms envisaged by the Armenia-NATO Individual Partnership Action Plan. He spoke of Armenia's involvement in NATO peace-making missions.The Armenian delegation members answered a number of questions. NATO officials stressed Armenia's important role as NATO's partner, commended the political and defense reforms in Armenia.The delegations of the OSCE MG co-chair nations, Russia, France and the USA, re-affirmed their commitment to the settlement principles: peoples' right to self-determination, territorial integrity and nonuse of force or threat of force.
