Armenian student team off for summer work in pre-Olympic Sochi

A team of Armenian students have left for Sochi to be involved in construction work in the southern Russian city preparing to host the 2014 Winter Olympics.

The group consisting of two dozen students of the Russian-Armenian Slavonic University and the Yerevan State Engineering University will work in construction on emerging Olympic facilities of the Russian Railways JSC throughout the summer.

The South Caucasus Railways (SCR) covers all travel expenses for the Armenian students, with Russian Railways covering their living cost in Sochi.

"This will be a good opportunity for you to better express yourselves and find new friends. You take a great responsibility because you will represent Armenia, SCR and your universities in Sochi," SCR CEO Viktor Rebets told the students before their departure on Wednesday, according to the company's press service.
