Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, participating in the UN Rio+20 environmental and sustainable development conference, had a number of bilateral meetings in Rio de Janeiro.
According to the press release of the Foreign Ministry, at the meeting with his counterpart of the Democratic Republic of Congo Raymond Tchibanda an arrangement has been achieved over the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The two ministers discussed the opportunities of cooperation in international organizations, referred to the preparation works for International Organization of Francophonie summit to be held in Kinshasa, Congo's capital, in October.
Minister Nalbandian met also with the Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka Gamini Lakshman Peiris. The interlocutors referred to the steps for promotion of political dialogue, formation of legal-agreement field, establishment of economic cooperation, development of cultural ties between Sri Lanka and Armenia.
Sri Lankan minister briefed on the steps addressed to national reconciliation and reforms. An arrangement has been reached over conduction of consultations between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries. The Sri Lankan minister invited Nalbandian to visit Sri Lanka.
Within the framework of Rio+20, Edward Nalbandian attended the meeting of heads of delegations of the International Organization of Francophonie member-states to discuss the agenda issues.
