Armenian FM: Karabakh settlement impossible without Stepanakert

The settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is impossible without Stepanakert's being involved in the negotiations, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan told the Armenpress News Agency on Friday, the second day of his two-day visit to the Karabakh capital to meet with the local leaders.

Speaking about his meeting with Karabakh President Bako Sahakyan, Armenia's top diplomat said that they had discussed the Minsk Group-mediated negotiation process, in particular Nalbandyan's meeting with the mediators in Paris on June 18.

Noting that the co-chairs permanently hold consultations with the country's leadership, Nalbandyan said. "The mediators are visiting the region in about ten days and they will be in Stepanakert with that purpose. I would like to emphasize once again that no settlement of the conflict is possible without Nagorno-Karabakh's participation."
