Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has accused Azerbaijan of causing tension in the Karabakh conflict zone, implying that the war rhetoric heard from Baku impedes international efforts to find a peaceful solution to the protracted conflict.
At a joint press conference with visiting Austrian President Heinz Fischer in Yerevan on Tuesday Sargsyan emphasized that Armenia is ready to move forward in the negotiations as the soonest resolution of the conflict meets the interests of the peoples of both Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.
"The situation around Nagorno-Karabakh remains a challenge for the security of both the region and Europe. We see no alternative to a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group. But, unfortunately, the policy of Azerbaijan during the past year, its militarist statements and unjustified arrogance causes tension both near the line of contact in the conflict zone and along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border," said the President of Armenia.
