Oppositionist on ANC cooperation with Prosperous Armenia

Levon Zurabyan, Coordinator of the opposition bloc Armenian National Congress (ANC) advises analyzing the ANC's steps before discussing the Prosperous Armenia Party's decision against forming a coalition with the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA)."Last October Levon Ter-Petrosyan made his well-known political analysis. He said that cooperation with the PAP in supervising elections would be possible provided the PAP got rid of the ruling regime, example, of Robert Kocharyan," Zurabyan said.At that time it seemed impossible to many. "But during the elections we cooperated within a joint campaign headquarters. And now we have witnessed the coalition's collapse. A notorious ruling coalition does not exist in Armenia anymore," Zurabyan said. The PAP is not involved in the coalition, and the Rule of Law party's involvement "is of no importance.""The RPA can hardly form a coalition with a nonexistent party. That is, one party fell away, and the other vanished into the air. It means the ruling regime is losing strength," he said. The mechanisms of the PAP-ANC cooperation is not yet been specified. "We can do it within Armenia's parliament. It is not ANC-PAP cooperation that is in question. Rather, it is combining all the political forces' efforts in struggling against the regime. I am happy that, after the disgraceful elections, we have achieved at last one if our aims: the RPA is actually in political isolation," Zurabyan said.He does not see Armenian ex-president Robert Kocharyan's "finger" in the PAP's decision. As to whether ANC views the PAP as an opposition force, Zurabyan said that the PAP becomes an opposition force unless it has a ministerial portfolio.
