While the Constitutional Court of Armenia upheld the results of the May 6 parliamentary elections after considering a claim from the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC), the work of the National Assembly (NA) of the fifth convocation began today.
On Wednesday evening the Central Election Commission (CEC) delivered the parliamentary mandates to the newly-elected lawmakers, however, the opposition representatives did not show up for the ceremony.
The ANC representatives were absent, grounding that they do not "want to participate in the revelry of the falsifiers."
President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, Catholicos of All Armenians, His Holiness Karekin II were present at the first NA session, whereas leader of Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) Gagik Tsarukyan, as well as Heritage and ANC representatives were absent.
