pat Movement Artavazd Vardanyan, who has been holding a hunger-strike in front of the Central Election Commission (CEC) since last week, says several friends were on duty there this night to keep an eye on him.
“By the way, people – absolutely unfamiliar individuals – were approaching me to express their support,” he told Tert.am.
The police did not allow the protester to set up a tent yesterday afternoon, saying that it would hinder people’s movement in the street.
Vardanyan went on a hunger strike on May 3, calling for “alternative elections in Armenia”. Feeling physically weak, he wanted a tent to lie in, as well as protect himself from the sun and rainfalls. The activist was kidnapped and driven to his house last night, and asked not to protest outside the CEC any more.
