University Rector Suren Zolyan and Armenia’s Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan are in conflict with each other.
In an interview Zolyan called Minister Ashotyan “a nonentity.” Minister Ashotyan reported on Tuesday that he is conducting inspections at the higher school and intends to publish results soon.
According to some information, the conflict has political implications. Moreover, the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) is rumored to be inciting Zolyan to a “duel” with Ashotyan.
A few months ago PAP Chairman Gagik Tsarukyan sponsored lecturers and students of the higher school thereby “establishing control” over Rector Suren Zolyan.
