Vote 2012: Sargsyan says election bribe takers reporting the crime not to be prosecuted

The focus of Day 18 of the ongoing election campaign in Armenia was on alleged vote buying practices by some political parties and candidates as well as measures to grapple with what is regarded as a criminal offense ahead of the May 6 parliamentary polls.

President Serzh Sargsyan, who is the leader of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), met with Prosecutor-General Aghvan Hovsepyan on Wednesday to discuss ways of enhancing the efficiency of combating possible election bribes that the opposition and some media have said may threaten the integrity of the coming elections.
