Vote 2012: Armenian parties mostly avoid using Karabakh as campaign issue

During the campaign ahead of Armenia's May 6 parliamentary elections for the first time in post-independence years the Karabakh subject has not been a main topic of debate and opponents do not openly accuse each other of "selling" Karabakh, nor that they used the conflict to seize power.

The current rejection of the traditional subject matter is possibly due to the fact that the current ruling party, led by President Serzh Sargsyan, itself has a lot of claims against its main political rivals.

Speaking at the Republican Party convention in March, Sargsyan said: "We were accused of 'selling' Karabakh, but where are now those who made those accusations?"
