The US ambassador to Syria has said its military has pulled back forces from some areas ahead of a U.N.-brokered cease fire next week but in other places has kept or simply shifted around troops and armored vehicles.
According to the Associated Press, US ambassador Robert Ford said he is basing his information on satellite images of Syrian towns and cities before and after the alleged pullouts.
The images along with his comments were posted on the U.S. Embassy Facebook page Saturday.
Ford was forced to leave Syria in February citing security concerns.
The Syrian government has said it has begun to withdraw some tanks and troops from towns and cities ahead of the cease-fire which takes effect next week but activists deny any significant pullouts.
