Pistol or phone?: Tsarukyan says it was a gadget, Oskanian says it was a gun

Armenian tycoon Gagik Tsarukyan, who is now leading his pro-establishment Prosperous Armenia Party campaign in different towns and regions of the country, has expressly denied he carried a gun at one of public meetings with voters after a footage appeared online showing, for a moment, a gun-shaped object stuck in his pants.

The original video published by News.am on April 13 showed Tsarukyan kneeling and leaning forward to greet Echmiadzin voters from the stage, revealing something looking like a golden pistol in his trousers. The bodyguard then quickly moved to cover it.

Prosperous Armenia Party representative Naira Zohrabyan and Tsarukyan's spokesman later said it was a luxury phone rather than a gun as alleged by media based on the News.am footage.
