The young man who was earlier reported to have killed his grandmother with an axe is said to be suffering from mental disorders.
Citing a report by an ambulance substation, the police said yesterday in an official statement that a resident of Yerevan’s Malatia-Sebastia district had died suddenly.
The police task force which arrived in the scene later found that that Aram Sukiasyan, 19, had inflicted axe injuries on his grandmother, Roza Grigoryan (83), who died on the way to hospital.
Sukiasyan, who has a second degree of disability as a mental patient, is now in detention.
An expert examination has been assigned. An inquest is under way.
