Chief of Armenian Police Vladimir Gasparyan says he treats the upcoming parliamentary election as a specific exam for himself and the entire police system.
Speaking at a joint discussion organized by the OSCE Office in Yerevan and the European Union, Gasparyan promised to be personally responsible for any violation during the voting. In the meantime, he ruled out the possibility of rigging given the presence of international observers in polling stations.
“I don’t think election rigging is possible on our multi-party and multi-colored political arena, with numerous observers and you monitoring the process,” he said.
Gasparyan added that the police will act within the law, becoming a cold shower for any election rigger, regardless of that person’s position or party affiliation.
