Robert Kovcharyan’s foreign trips, that have become frequent in the pre-election period, have aroused interest among many people, the paper says, referring to the second president’s recent trip to Germany and his current visit to Moscow.
“It would not naturally look strange that Armenia’s ‘youngest pensioner’ who, thank God, possesses huge financial resources, leaves abroad. But it’s noteworthy that he make his trips ahead of the elections, with his every meeting in Moscow livening up the [ex Foreign Minister] Vardan Oskanyan, who has now become one of the most influential figures of the Prosperous Armenia party (PAP). We do not yet know what spirit Moscow gives to Kocharyan but negotiations nonetheless take place. It is quite possible that Armenia’s [future] prime minister may be replaced under Moscow’s pressures, especially considering [incumbent Premier] Tigran Sargsya’s passiveness in the recent period,” comments the paper.
