Chief of Armenia's Police Vladimir Gasparyan dismissed on Friday allegations of political motives behind the murder of Karen Yesayan, a fiancé of the daughter of Gyumri's mayor Vardan Ghukasyan.
The 27-year-old was found dead, with gunshot wounds, in his Mercedes Benz near the Mother Armenia complex in Gyumri late on Thursday. Earlier, his parents turned to the police reporting him missing. According to some media reports, the engagement party of Yesayan and the daughter of the mayor, a member of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, was to take place on Friday.
"I can say from the start that the murder is not politically motivated and it will be revealed as soon as possible. As the investigation is already underway, there is no need to circulate any names of suspects," Gasparyan told media in Yerevan.
