Armenian government discusses housing programs for earthquake zone

le=”text-align: justify; “>At the Armenian government’s meeting on Thursday, Deputy Minister of Urban Development of Armenia Ruzan Alaverdyan informed the cabinet members of the government-financed housing programs for the earthquake zone for 2008-2012.

A total of AMD 92.5bn ($250m) of the Russian government loan have been allocated under the programs.

With the funds allocated from 2009 to 2011, the financing of the program will total AMD 84bn, and 4,617 flats will have been built by the end of this year.

After the program has been completed, another 1,008 families residing in Shirak, Lori and Aragatsotn will gradually be provided with housing. Four hundred families will receive housing certificates for one-room flats, with the rest 600 families to be provided with housing under housing construction programs.
