Thousand march in Turkey to protest Khojalu claims

Around 1,000 people rallied in Turkey on Sunday as a sign of protest against an Istanbul-hosted demonstration dedicated to the so-called Khojalu massacre.

According to the Turkish news agency Dogan, journalists, writers, actors and intellectuals had joined the crowd.

At the demonstration on Istanbul’s Taksim square last week, the crowd held up posters with anti-Armenian and fascist slogans.
But the protesters at yesterday’s rally were making calls for friendship between nations, and condemning hatred.

After a procession that lasted about an hour, a Turkish journalist, Yashar Guven, delivered a speech, slamming the anti-Armenian statements and threats at last week’s protest.
