Republican Party opens 13th congress in Yerevan

The ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) has opened its 13th congress in Yerevan’s Sports and Concert Complex.

The meeting is expected to hear speeches by representatives of different political forces. President Serzh Sargsyan is now delivering a summary report. The meeting will elect a party chairman and members of the Audit Commission and Executive Body.

A resolution detailing the party’s 2007-12 achievements and future plans has been distributed among the participants. The document particularly focuses on economic development issues, stressing the importance of adopting a relevant concept and implementing system reforms.

The resolution calls upon “patriotic public and political organizations and individuals” to unite their efforts towards achieving general reforms in Armenia.
