Landslide prevents gas supply to Armenia

An accident in the North-South corridor has caused Georgia to temporarily suspend the natural gas supply to Armenia, the Georgian Minister of Energy and Natural Resources has said.

The Russian news agency ITAR-TASS has quoted Alexander Khetaguri as saying that a landslide in the vicinities of Mamkoda town has hit a main pipe which now needs to be replaced in order to operate normally.

Khegtaguri has visited the site together with Director of Georgia’s Oil and Gas Corporation (GOGC) Zurab Janjgava.

The minister said the pipeline renovation is now under way, adding that the gas supply will be resumed on Monday evening or Tuesday morning.
